Watson Announces upcoming event with Governor McDonnell to Supporters
Williamsburg, VA (July 25, 2011)- It was standing room only at the Watson for Delegate Campaign Kickoff on Sunday afternoon at Sal’s by Victor restaurant.
Mike Watson asked the crowd to imagine an optimistic future for America. “A future where your college graduate’s hardest decision is which job offer to accept, where every conflict in the Middle East does not raise our fuel prices or cause US military action, and that our Commonwealth and our country are energy independent.” Watson was forced to pause repeatedly as the crowd interrupted him with enthusiastic applause.
At the end of his remarks Watson announced that Governor McDonnell will headline an event for Watson next month. The announcement drew robust applause from the crowd.
Among the 120 plus attendees was Sheriff Bob Deeds, Delegate Brenda Pogge, Senator Tommy Norment, Supervisor Chair Mary Jones and other elected officials as well as the Republican Chairs of James City County, Amanda Johnston; York County, Wade McRoberts; Williamsburg City, Richard Hill; and past Newport News City Chair, Steve Groce.”
In Watson’s closing remarks, he said, “I know many of you ache for our nation today, I share that concern; but if you remember just one thing from today, know that Virginia can and will be a leader in getting this nation back on course. We stand today in the birthplace of freedom. What could be more fitting than to start again right here, in Williamsburg, Virginia.”
